OOTP19 Release Question
Hello everyone, new poster here. I see that people who placed the pre-order for OOTP19 will have access to the final beta version a few days before the actual release...
My question is, will this beta version just be a good for a few days and then need to be completely replaced by the actual release? Or will the beta version just be given a patch to download to then became the official release? I'm extremely anxious for the release and I want to start up my offline league ASAP. I was hoping to do that with the release of the beta version, with the hope that a few days later I would just be downloading a patch to have the actual release and I'd be able to keep all of my saved game data from the previous few days. But, naturally if the beta version is going to be 100% replaced by the actual release and I'd be losing all of my saved data over that 2 or 3 days period then I'd of course just wait for the actual release before I get started. Does anybody know how this will work? Long story short, if I start up a league with the beta version, will I be losing all of the saved data and be starting over a few days later with the official release? |

The pre-release is meant for you to take it out for a spin but ultimately there will be things here and there that will need to get fixed. I strongly recommend you don't try and start your replay or league in this stage or import an old league yet because stuff happens. Heck many people like to wait a while until a lot of bugs are ironed out even after the first release before really diving in. I'm going to use the pre-release to try out some tournaments and play some exhibitions but my old leagues aren't being imported for a bit.

Or that you at least create a backup - and you'd be best off creating a zip-file of your league ...
.. just in case some weird bugs appear

To answer your question - the game you download Thurs is the final version. There is very likely to be a patch with the Official release Mon, but your original download will only need the patch, and not full game download again.
![]() You won't lose any data. Start a league as you like, but consider it a test run. There will likely be another patch in a week or two, as more eyes see the game more bugs will be noticed. Not to say OOTP is buggy by any means, but no software is perfect. In the meantime, you can work out the kinks in your ideal league so when the game is well patched and solid, you'll be ready to go. I believe the 18th is the last day to pre-order and still get the beta release.

Every year when I get the Beta, I NEVER start my real-time season league until the final release and nearer to the actual Opening Day of the season.
But I do simulate lots of seasons, try out the trade, free-agency and game engines to test the waters. The Beta is Markus' way of saying "thank you" to the people who pre-ordered his game and now he needs our help. He wants us to give his creation trial runs and test his game engines so that bugs can be reported, suggestions can be given and graphics can be fixed before he does his final release. So, in a way, we work for Markus for a few days to help him out. He pays us by giving us the OOTP Beta a few days early before anyone else who didn't pre-order the game.

By the time you figure out any bugs Markus has already squashed them.
