Precipitous Drops
I just had a 25 year old starter (who I haven't abused) inexplicably do this:
Current stuff drops from 69 to 49. Potential stuff drops from 70 to 50. Potential movement drops from 64 to 63. Potential control rating drops from 39 to 38. I get that it just sometimes happens IRL that players lose the ability to play (especially pitchers). How frequently does stuff like this happen game-wise? Also, is there ever a corresponding improvement--a mediocre player (who doesn't have big potential numbers) suddenly gets awesome? |

There is corresponding improvement as well.
The frequency of either happening is determined by a setting called Talent Change Randomness (TCR). You can find it under 'game settings' > 'player & facegen'. It can be set from 1-200. The higher the setting, the more often you get changes in either direction. On 1 they almost never happen. On 200, they happen a ton. Default is 100.

The randomness of this is sometimes horrifying but can also be a wonderful thing too. I know I had an 8th round pick become a hall of fame right fielder because he got a huge jump in ability and went from a sometimes pinch runner to an absolute stud .310 lifetime hitter with 500 plus homers.
I use 75 and it doesn't happen that often. I know the default is 100 but I just found far far far too many times my players just became junk. Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk |
