Is it just me?

Or does this game seem very buggy?

I don't remember having this many problems with the first couple of versions of 4.

Also, how come so many basic baseball elements are missing in the game?

Like having a pitcher play outfield if you are all out of regular position players?

It bothers me some that OOTP5 adds an option where the manager can get married and have kids and divorce, but can't give us a complete game of baseball.

Am I alone in thinking that maybe they went to far with the bells and whistles this time? Personally, I think that the actual baseball game should have been working correctly before the other stuff was added.

This is still probably the best baseball game on the market. OOTP4 was the best before this one came out, and I realize that you cannot fix all bugs pre-release. That is granted.

I hope that eventually these bugs will get fixed and the actaul game of bsaeball will play better. Again, this is not an attempt to flame, but to release some frustration I am having. I am a long time hard core text sim gamer and I love the OOTP series, I just really think that some aspects of the baseball sim itself should be fixed before anything else.

Thanks for your time and for working on this game.

I never had a problem having Mike Hampton play first base for me...

I had him pinch hit, then right clicked on his name in the lineup, and assigned him first base...

I can relate somewhat LAH, I too have been a little disappointed with the gameplay, but I bet all who run online leagues are over the moon with the new options!

Something to consider...

Your the developer of a game. You listen to hundreds of suggestions on how to improve it. You begin to compile a list, and prioritize things based on (1) difficulty and (2) importance. You also have two other lists... (3) New features, and (4) "flash".

Now you come up on when you must start... you hit the #2 items first - those things that simply HAVE to be fixed. You also split your time with the #1 items, trying to get those done in time.

As the clock starts to run out, you add #3 and #4 so your product "looks" new as well.

The problem with the above is you never get through everything on all the lists. So you put what's left on two new lists... (A) patches and (B) next year's version.

Adding a manager mode was something that was on list #3, and something that Markus said only took a few hours. The trading AI took a lot of time - and yet he still is going to have to revisit it (putting something else that was on list (A) to list (B).

It's all about what you can do in a limited amount of time - and unfair to assume that some feature added you don't care for could have led to something else getting done.

I should have added that this has to do with odd situations, like a DH being ejected and having no one on the bench to take his position, except pitchers.

Thanks Henry, I understand how game development works at a base level, and that you cannot please all the people all the time.

But it worries me that the actual baseball aspect of the game is losing attention when all of these other secondary features are appearing.

But my first interest is in a solid baseball game. OOTP does this, but I strive for perfection. Which, in itself is unrealistic, but a good thing to work for.

My next interest is in the career season modeling. OOTP does this well. Of course it can always be better, but I can always be a better husband, doesn't mean I will be eventually be the perfect husband. know what I mean?

After those two, it doesn't really matter to me.

I hope that the issues that OOTP5 currently has with the game can be patched.

Thanks for allowing me to vent.
