Pitch to cont?
I was wondering when playing defense and the number 3 option,
Pitch to cont What does that mean? Thanks |

Pitch to contact - likely a runner on first and you want the batter to make contact, ideally into a DP. The batter is usually a ground ball type hitter so your chances of inducing the DP are greater.

It also avoids deep pitch counts, helping your pitcher stay in the game longer.

I am hesitant to try that option. IRL the Twins used a “pitch to contact” philosophy for a few years and usually lost around 95 games per season.
