Historical minors options
One of the great things about ootp is the customization.
Sadly this has been dropping in the historical game. With old versions the player db was mostly just that, a database to call new players in each year. We were free to set up leagues has we wanted. More teams, less teams, sub leagues, no sub leagues. Minors no minors. Then came the minors db. Amazing thing. But I would again like to go back to the past with it. Have the player db available year by year no matter what setup I use. If I want 20 mlb teams in 1910, fine. The 1911 new players come to the draft and the league stays at 20. Basically what the spritze db allows, but incorporate into the minors db. Secondly with that, the ability to change the date of the draft again and still get real players not fictional ones. Those would be my suggestions for 19 |

I would like to add to this by asking that we be given the option to choose whether we want historical players that miss a season to return or stay missing. As things stand right now(17 and 18) historical players return and when they do they return with all their career stats. This is great for folks that want to follow history, but it sucks eggs for folks that like to create fictional baseball worlds with their very own history. The option to erase all history/stats is still available, but since it's mandatory players return after they miss seasons, the feature is useless. For example, say I want to create a fictional MLB that begins play in 1921. I can easily create fictional teams. I can erase all history/stats and hold a draft to fill teams. Problem is, when I get to 1922, Johnny Evers is going to rear his ugly head and when he does he's going to have 16 years worth of stats in a OOTP world that's only existed for one season. I know the ability to do what I just described was due to a bug. I know the inability to do so now is due to that bug being fixed, but man I fell in love with this method of play prior to the bug fix and man do I miss it.
I know what I just described has nothing to do with historical minors, but it does have to do with the historical game being less customizable. Last edited by David Watts; 11-14-2017 at 05:13 PM. |
