NFL thoughts - week 6

Still trying to figure out why people want to call this play dirty or illegal. Believe me, I'm all about safety. When I see the reports of the affects of CTE, the days of pain retired players endure, and hits like this, I actually feel guilty about liking football. These men are puting their bodies thru torture for my entertainment. But the Rogers hit was football. He was tackled. As long as this is tackle football, people have the potential to get hurt. Even star quarterbacks. What irritates me even more is that people start crying only when it is a QB. Are we looking to change rules because of what happened to OBJ? JJ? Luke? But let a Golden Boy get an ow-wee & suddenly the rule book needs changing........


......Would you feel comfortable ranking a top 10 in the NFL. Twenty-three of 32 teams right now have 2 or 3 losses. The league is a huge mass of seriously flawed teams w/an Achillies' heel waiting to disappoint their season.......


......Rogers injury actually has Chicago in the mix. Think about it....Minnesota is without Bradford & Cook. The Packers were already a MASH unit before Double Check got put down. Detroit is moving backwards. If the Bears & Trubisky can get it together, they might actually steal the division.......


.....I don't know if I've ever seen a game like the Lions vs the Saints. This match was off the chain. Highlight play after highlight play. Four defensive TD's & a punt return for 6. There had to be at least 20 big plays. Either for large gains or turnovers. If you haven't seen the game review, click the link. It is worth it........


.....Which is worse? Blowing a big lead in the Super Bowl to Tom Brady? Or blowing a big lead @ home to Jake Cutler? I don't think the answer is as easy as you think..........

......I think we expect the Browns to better each year, because we reason they can't get any worse. But that doesn't mean they will improve.....


.....Niners are better than you think. Yeah, they are O-fer. But since the 1st week , they have lost by 3, 2, 3, 3, and 2. They are "right there"......

I'd call it a late hit, and a penalty, but not so late as to be "dirty." And you are right about this being football of which tackling is a part. Otherwise, put flags in their belts and do away with it altogether. Now, a bit later on that hit and I would suspend the guy for hurting somebody while violating rules. It's judgment but I could make that call from the video.

No, both teams are worse than I realized and I thank you for calling my attention to them. Why? Because they make me feel like the Giants at 1-5 are a quality team in comparison.

By the way, what's with the super-large graphics? Is your monitor that large that you don't realize their humongousness?

No, both teams are worse than I realized and I thank you for calling my attention to them. Why? Because they make me feel like the Giants at 1-5 are a quality team in comparison.

Refs haven't been consistent in throwing flags regarding hits like the one against Rodgers. For decades a hit right after the QB throws the ball was never flagged. You had to take 2 or more steps for it to be considered late. Now it's pot luck. I personally don't think it was late.
