historical lineups

I'm finding that historical lineups are not very accurate in my replay seasons. And, yes, I do have both historical transactions and lineups on. The transactions ARE accurate, but the lineups are not. I have to manually set it before each game to be accurate. I use baseball-reference for the real lineups. Weird that the starting pitcher IS accurate, though. Just not the lineup.

I believe OOTP has lineups available for all seasons between 1901-2016, except 1908, 1909, 1910, 1912, and 1913.

I'll just have to do it manually. Just for my own team, of course. I'm not gonna do it for the other teams games. Funny that the starting pitchers are true, though. Maybe something happened with all the updates? Not accessing the right lineups anymore or something. I don't know. Wish I knew this before I started this season. Wondering why my catcher is catching every single game with no break. The other starters, too. All starting every single game. My bench is falling asleep. Oh, well.

Some seasons only have the starting pitchers identified. I did notice that retrosheet apparently has the 1910, 1912, and 1913 as played lineups available. If this is true, I'll try to get the data added to OOTP18.

So OOTP goes by retrosheet? OK. I didn't know that. Maybe they're already working on it. They do have much to do and can't all be done just like that. Data entry does take time.

I also found a small mistake in the 1949 season replay. A player was released in between games of a doubleheader. That player was to be the starting catcher in the second game. I had to go into commissioner mode to reinstate him so he could start that second game. After the game, I released him again. His release was correct for that day. Just not between games.

I just sent Markus the as played lineups for 1910-1913. (The 1911 lineups had some gaps, it seems; so I redid them.) Hopefully, we can get this in the final patch. The only missing lineups should now be 1908-09.

That is great news. Thanks so much for your help in this. I didn't know that there were unfinished lineups in the game. I do very much understand old baseball records are sometimes hard to find. Using newspaper box scores if they could even be found.
I thought all the lineups were good from 1901-present. My investigating mind got me to wondering and I went investigating. lol

Thanks.
