Creating a fictional roster with real historical players

I'm creating a fictional league and I'm trying to do it with historical players from different teams. What I've been doing is creating a historical game, exporting the rosters, and copying the information to a new csv file. That has an issue with ages, which I can easily fix. But what about the player id? I'm pretty sure that's where this idea falls apart, but is there a way to fix it?

I know about spritze's databases, but I saw that they added fielding stats in OOTP18, so I'm assuming that won't work.

from at least: List all ML players... onthis list the available actions should allow you to import historical players... (FA list? list all? probably multiple lists that involve entire league or FA).

the key "Available Actions" that you see in top-right of screen... easy to forget or miss.

right click may or may not have an option, all by rote here.

if 1-by-1 is too slow for what you want to do, you can do the import csv routh... However, you'll need to re-use player-id's. so either replace existing, or make "300" then re-use their player id's. won't be a problem in a new league, i'd assume they are in relative order at first before any players are deleted etc... (as in it should be easy to see a block of 300 newly created playerIDs to copy/paste over your list of imported players...)

YoB column may need some adjustments... easy if all from same historical year to fix with 1 simple formula and a fill fucntion in a spreadhseet... more difficult if from all over and randomly dispersed in list (hint, sort for ease, if necessary).

Okay this is all very helpful. I guess I'm confused what the purpose of the player ID is, and if I can change them with no consequences?

we don't get the full db... so you can't just add playerID's and import... they won't be created in all the necessary tables or ?? etc... you cannot simply makeup a unique player id then import.

that's the whole point of re-using existing player id's... you want to add 300 specific players ina list? make 300 players, then re-use their id's or simply replace those teams etc... (can sort by team id, then copy/paste over an entire team, but keep the playerid's that were exported!)

i replaced an entire league doing this, lol... i really wanted to continue using taht set of players and for some reason that's the only way i could do it.. .few years ago now.

again, if it's not many, you simply do the in-game import historical player method... nice and easy.
