OOTP Contract Negotiation Issue

So I don't know if this was fixed in the past, but I just tested it and it's still an issue. If I have a SP who is demanding 15M per for 8 years (heading into FA), if I switch his player profile from SP to RF (where he's 20/20) he's asking for 5M per for 2 years. A 3B in the same league asks for 5M per for 2 years, and when I switch him to a SP on his profile page (20/20) and he asks for 1.5M. So switching a player's profile can drastically affect what his demands are. Imagine if I had done this in challenge mode? I could extend all my core guys for $1-5 M, basically.

Anyway that this can be fixed? Maybe have the player assume his role is where he has the highest overall/potential, as opposed to what his player profile page is set to?

This seems like a reasonable suggestion, and would prevent abuse.

You could just not do it? It shouldn't be fixed, because if the guy changed his role to another position for whatever reason, he wouldn't necessarily have the same value. The game is working as intended, I don't know that it's the game's job to consider the remote possibility that the person is good at another position and that someone might use him that way, especially in a world with two-way players.

Say it's a pitcher who gets injured and can't throw well anymore, but he still have value as a hitter and i want to rehab and sign him, should he go for his old value as a pitcher and not get signed and then retire? No.

No, it is an obvious exploit and should be fixed.

Obviously I wouldn't do it, but the point is it's an exploit and someone who wanted to pump up their record would be willing to do it. It's an exploit that other people could abuse.

How many players does this impact? Less than 1%, I imagine. If a guy is moved from CF to RF, his potential is still higher as a RF. If he has pitching ratings and he's better as a SP than a RF, I'm not sure why a guy would be used as a RF.

This is not working as intended and I have discussed this with a developer of the game in a PM and he even told me this is a known exploit that gets messed up every couple of patches, and that they will fix it. In this case you are wrong, it is not something working as intended, and it's a known bug. I posted here because the developer didn't respond to me quickly and I wanted to make it well known so that it could be fixed for the next patch, which is the plan.

If it's a pitcher who gets injured and can't throw well then his potential as a pitcher would decline and he would get a salary based on his hitting potential. In other words, it would work exactly like you hope, and you'd sign him based on his hitting potential.
