Puerto Rico, US House of Representatives?

I didn't think they were a State with voting rights? In fact in 1938 they weren't even a territory.

Puerto Rico has been electing a 'Resident Commissioner' to the House since 1901. That person isn't allowed to take part in full House votes, but can work on committees and vote on procedural stuff. The story line implies a bit more power and influence than the person actually has, but isn't completely off-base.

The Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico (Spanish: Comisionado Residente de Puerto Rico) is a non-voting member of the United States House of Representatives elected by the voters of Puerto Rico every four years. The commissioner is the only member of the House of Representatives who serves a four-year term and functions in every respect as a congressman except being denied a vote on the final disposition of legislation on the House floor.

how about this one... Washing DC, not just a territory but part of the union, elects a representative to congress that can't vote.

originally it was due to the fear that living too close to the government could be a confliect of interest... hardly became true, and given today's communication technology distance is not the barrier it used to be.

so, US citizens in the US are not being represented in congress and have not been for ... ever.

nothing to see here... move along.

How is that different from Puerto Rico? In both cases, citizens are not being represented.

Also, Washington, D.C. is an area that belongs to no state so that no state would get special treatment by the federal government. Virginia and Maryland both gave land for the district.

Except the citizens in D.C. can vote in national elections. Citizens in Puerto Rico cannot vote in Presidential elections.

Hey just as soon as residents of Puerto Rico start paying federal income taxes they can vote all they want in Presidential elections.

That's why the Washington team isn't called the Senators anymore.

Anyway, this storyline has been glitched for a few versions by now. Should be easy enough for the devs to restrict it to U.S. nationality only.

This storyline was fixed. A condition was added to this storyline restricting it to players with "Nation ID=206" (the USA). Puerto Rico has its own Nation ID (151). So this shouldn't be happening - the storyline should only be triggered when it's a US player.

Does the player have a secondary nationality? Maybe that's screwing things up. Otherwise, it's a glitch.
