Did I rip off the cpu in the trade?
Before the 2018 season I (mets) traded Yelich (great last season, AS, Silver Slugger) of the marlins for two rather young 3 and 2 star prospects (ootp scouting values them abt the same) and Juan Lagares (decent last season for his standards but rather bad contract).
I also threw in a 2 star catcher although I didn't need to. Trade difficulty is on hard and favour prospects. Marlins have neutral focus and are heavily in budget trouble- which didn't improve either as lagares and yelich make abt the same next and over next season. Thinking abt it again I dont know how this one could go through, I was trying many trades and the cpu didn't like any of my offers until that one.. Sent from my GEM-702L using Tapatalk |

I could see the financial motivation from the AI if they are in a rebuild. Yelich is guaranteed money through 2021 and Lagares just through 2019 and at a much lower rate. If they really are in serious financial trouble this move saves almost $40 million total.
Actually considering the history of the real life Marlins, a firesale sounds pretty accurate

I always look at trades this way. If i was the other GM does this trade make sense? Is there a justification for making the trade. If yes then I dont see it as exploitive. Remember real GMs make bad trades all the time.

gms do make bad trades...
in my experience even with 'normal' difficulty, it's almost always tilted in the ai's favor, if slightly... so, when a rare occurence crops up where i get the advantage, i have no problems taking it. if it's common that you see a huge skew in your favor that is a different context... otherwise, stop looking the gift-horse in the mouth. i don't know yelich's ratings off the top of my head... 3 and 2 star return isn't exactly gluttonous, imo. |

Not that you can't rip off the AI but you can console yourself that you don't know how the other team views the players. Maybe they see Yelich as a 5-star and the two guys they let go as 1-star guys?
