Prospects
Been playing the game for some time now, and it seems I never get more than a few seasons into my career before the next year arrives, and the new game is released which I buy right away.
Anyway, I still have not found the right setting to have prospects offered to me. It seems that even when my team is "rebuilding" I am only offered vets for my vets that are on the block. Or, when I set up my team needs I am contacted by other teams, but they want a ton for the player they say fits my needs. Am I missing something with my settings? What do some of you do? Thanks. |

you will improve your team in vastly better ways by being more proactive in your search for prospects. do not rely on the game to offer things - although looking there can't hurt, either.
i have my franchis on "build a dynasty" .. when i "shop" a player, sometimes i get prospect offers, sometimes i get vets... not 100% sure if we can influence that (probably similar logic behind the offers you speak of). try changing your Asst GM's sliders (or gm, if coach only)... maybe if they prefer prospects you get more of those offers? testing purposes only suggestion. (i change my AGM sliders all the time... he's my b^^^h.) think of offers to trading block and shopping players as a starting point - if reaching. i like to list all mlb players > X potential and < Y age and include minor leaguers.... then i sort by potential. i'll use contact for batters to peruse the < X potential players that might be a scouting mistake or something undervalued. (pitchers are a bit more complicated, i'll use stuff to find a lesser-rated RP, for example, but sp need to be well-rounded) if you want to trade for good players, it will best for you to find them and propose a trade. the younger the MiL prospect, the worse the scouting accuracy is... AAA or AA with at least 1 year there are probably good accuracy but still young enough that a talent change will occur (random? work ethic? whatever the cause, it's irrelevant). at the very least, you know their ratings are fairly accurate, if you spend well in MiL scouting. when i have a winning team i move money from amatuer scouting to MiL scouting for this reason... i won't be drafting anything but middling prospect to slightly above average prospects. i find more future players from MiL trades wheni am winning, so i spend more there. I've noticed that international amatuer scouting spending mostly influences the discoveries by your scout.... the amatuers created on july 2nd, however, are roughly scouted with the same accuracy regardless of your budget. i've been using 1% lately and checking the results in this 1 area, very recently. the highest potential are still roughly the best players - just as inaccurate as before, best guess, or at least not much worse -- remember int'l ama fa is starting with pretty poor accuracy already. so, i say scr*w the 5-10 discoveries, and dump all that i used to spend on that into the other 3 scouting budgets... it's been a few seasons now... this is one change i doubt i'll reverse unless something changes in ootp '18. some years i dump more into amateur scouting, someitmes MiL... depends on where i draft and other relevant factors. even salary dumps are timed with being able to overspend on int'l ama FA...
