is this possible in 17

I want to look at my batters this way

I want to see my ml batter roster all together and see only their ratings vs rt or lt pitching. now I know u can do this for each individual batter but can you see the full roster on 1 screen

Go to your team lineups page and use the splits views (menus along the top)

I don't think that is what I want

I want to see the total strength of my ml roster vs rhp and on another screen lhp

so u lay out the ml batters on a screen and then u want to see ratings (not B avg) vs lhp. u can click to see present ratings or potential ratings depending on the click u can see

contact
power
eye

for your total team vs lhp and then rhp

If you want to see ratings go to the views and customize one where you show their ratings vs right/left handed and then save that view.

but does this show u the entire team- batters- all in one screen. I know how to look at each ind batter.
what I am getting at is I want to see the ratings vs lhp or rhp so I can see an easy way to pick up a batter or 2 that excel against rt or lt

I believe that's what he was saying, you have to set up a customized view.

Go to your team home screen. Click the Players tab. Make sure you're on the Overview tab. Then select:

Listed Players: Active Roster.
View: Batting Ratings
Position: All Batters

Then in the View menu select Customize... at the very top. That way you can set up views like this:

You can select as more or fewer ratings to show on your views, of course. You could have both sets on one screen, include the potential ratings for each, etc. Don't forget to save the custom views.
