That's why Marcus made an editor. So fantasies can be played in game.
At least now I don't feel so bad about editing Brien Taylor and Ed Hearn into Sandy Koufax and Johnny Bench, respectively. I've got nothing on Hammercraft. |

I would love this. Whether it's one or two baseball players, or a softball league - female players would be awesome.

I'll add my voice in favor of this. The AAGPBL was a legit pro ball league. We now have nearly every other historical league, so why not this, too.

I know Markus has stated on several occasions that this would be a monumental pain to add/change because there are thousands of gender pronouns in the text alone that would need to be charged.
Then again, I never thought we'd get Tournaments, so never say never. It will probably happen sooner or later. When, exactly, is anyone's guess.

Yeah, it would be a lot of tedious work to change all the pronouns that would be variables based on gender, and I appreciate that. But it's something they should probably undertake because not only is there historical precedent, there will be female players again in the future. It's only a matter of time before it has to be changed to mirror active MLB.

A woman player competing in the affiliated minor leagues, or even MLB itself, may happen someday. But it is a highly unlikely event due to the sexually dimorphic nature of human beings. Note that only a tiny percentage of men are able to make it into pro baseball; the percentage of women who could do so would be a tiny percentage of that already tiny percentage. |

I can't wait for pregnancy to be added into the injury engine.

Good grief.
I have among my kids three daughters (and a wife who maintains I am the kid in this!). They all played many sports (one still does). One even played on my son's baseball team for a couple of years. Short of a sideshow akin to the shortest ballplayer ever or a "man becomes woman" scenario, this is not even close to a plausible statement. I'll leave it alone from here on out though. Dream on. Just because it's cool to say doesn't make it true. |

I think when it actually happens and a female player makes a team in organized pro ball THEN we'll see it in OOTP.
It's bound to sooner or later. Eri Yoshida played a couple seasons in Indy ball here in the US and a few more in Japan. Sooner or later one will show up in MiLB. |

AAGPBL would be a great addition to the historic options, though. Fictionalize it to be more professional, and continue it onto modern times.

Consider: 29.3% of U.S. males aged 20-29 were 5'11" or taller; just 0.4% of women were 5'11" or taller. The average height of a Major League player is over 6'. From this, it's easy to see that the pool of female candidates is vastly smaller than the pool of male candidates on a purely basic physical parameters measure, let alone factoring in skill and ability. U.S height data here. I can agree with that. Last edited by Le Grande Orange; 02-09-2017 at 12:41 PM. |

I do think it's possible. It's more likely to happen in baseball than any other major sport because it's the only major sport where bodies do not, theoretically, collide. It's a skill game as much as it is a game of muscle and bulk. That having been said, IF it ever happens, I think it will have to be a pitcher, maybe a knuckleball specialist or someone who pitches "backwards", relying on off-speed stuff rather than throwing 93% fastballs. Possibly at second base, or maybe centerfield. I've been a fan of this game long enough to know the ebbs and flows of baseball. Nothing is "en vogue" forever. Today, the trend is big. Even your middle infielders give you 10-15 HRs a season. It wasn't always that way. Ozzie Smith had a HOF career batting .262 averaging fewer than 2 HRs a season. So you never know what tomorrow brings.

I actually wrote some storylines for it somewhere
![]() Women's leagues would be cool to be able to have, but it would be a lot of work for something that not many people would use. |

Although, it could grow the OOTP audience to more ladies.

Also, putting in a 70-80mph knuckler after a Chapman would be incredibly useful.

The AAGBPL and its players are in the OOTP database. They are just not used (yet).
