Lower Potential than Current Rating
I can't seem to find the answer to this through search. What does it mean when the potential rating is lower than the current rating? I've always assumed it meant the player is in decline, but haven't seen it stated anywhere.

I always check the age.
I assume in a young player who is developing it means the development engine has not adjusted yet. I an older player I assume decline. You can always check? uncheck the option for Show Current > Potential and set it to No, Adjust and see what happens. That should tell you directly with the player you are looking at. Then just switch it back.

it "could" mean that.
there are many cuases of what you are seeing - one of which is simply scouting inaccuracy. once a player is fully developed and not aged, it's not unusual for current rating to be > potential. the opposite can happen too. it may mean he's in decline, it could be bad scouting, it could be a correction in scouting, it could be ... ... ... ..' -- oh it could be due to a recent increase in potential - but since it's still TCR you can predict from it very well - positively or negatively. it's obviously not as good of a sign as current > potential, but pot>cur isn't too big of a deal unless other factors also point toward an approaching problem. alone, it doesn't mean anything is going to happen with any amount of certainty. if they are in their 20's i wouldn't even bat an eye unless it was a 'larger' dip in a rating. if in their early 20's i'm assuming it's a scouting correction or unmet potential naturally falling down toward current ability. so, use other factors that make sense to determine what's happening - age, performance etc... it's not unusual for a small dip to occur, then remain constant for a long time after that.... it's also not unusual for it to turn into a downward spiral. so, don't assume anything. just protect yourself if they are old -- get rid of them A.S.A.g.d.m.f'n.P.
