Recalculate Team totals

What does this button do??
I've tried the Era Calculator and it just managed to mess up my league. I had an ERA of .30 at one point. The Recalculate button fluctuates league totals up and down. League leader in Homeruns will have 50 one year and the next 20 then back to 50. Do you adjust it every year or what? Are there any firm numbers for it based on decade?

To avoid large fluctuations, I enter the average of the numbers entered in the previous year and the numbers as recalculated by the program. This will still give you some variety from year to year, but within reasonable variances.
