Why do the Preseason predictions change throughout the season?
I have noticed that the Preseason predictions, both the expected W-L of teams and the listings of top ten batters/pitchers, change throughout the season?
Why is this? Shouldn't a Preseason prediction be just that, and not change? |

After the season starts you cannot generate preseason predictions. In the preseason you can. The only one that matters is the one generated on or just before opening day.

RchW - Yes, I am sure about the bold, which is why I asked the question. Thank you though for trying and maybe you can help again?
If I go to League Reports, Preseason Predictions, it is not the same information as was there at the beginning of the season. I haven't taken screenshots as proof, but I know that it changes - and I wish it wouldn't. Is there some stray setting I that I can change to prevent this from occuring? |

Sounds like something weird going on there, because the Pre season predictions do not change during the season. Can you perhaps save some screen shots next season and post them? Would like to see what's going on there.

I have the same problem. I think there are two different preseason predictions that the game generates: one before spring training (the one that you definitely see) and another one at or around Opening Day. This, in my experience, can only be viewed on Opening Day and then later in League History. It's wacky. I am not 100% positive about what I said though.

I agree I've checked and the opening day predictions are unchanged in December.

Shooting fish in dumpster here, but could the be this result of having preseason predictions set to "on demand" instead of "automatic?" I know if you have it set to "on demand" the game will run the predictions when you select preseason predictions from the league reports menu. I've only ever did this on opening day, so I don't know what happens if you decide to look at preseason predictions later in the season and you have it set to "on demand."

I think what happens is if you do the preseason predictions during spring training then the "prediction" uses all players that are still with the major league team. If you do it at the end, it would not takes into account the 25 man roster.
This would mean a team with a lot of speedy, good defensive players that are ticketed for the minors may look better than they actually are since the game sees them as being able to influence records with pinch runners and defensive subs. Conversely, a team with minimal minor league depth would take a hit in the earlier prediction. |

That's not the issue. Pre-season predictions can and will change throughout ST because they can be run each day. After opening day they can't be run and so remain static. All we need is a screenshot and date to show otherwise.

well, i have it set to on-demand and once i run it once i cannot run it again. do you have it on automatic?
I may have to change this, if that's how it works.. i can look at at at anytime without locking it in learn something new everyday (if verified later)

Got it. Thanks!
FWIW even though it's set to Automatic you can run it during ST from the BNN home page.
