Moving A League from one Machine to Another

Hello first a brief apology as this HAS to have been covered before, I just can't find it by doing searches or reading the FAQ's

But.....

I would like to move my custom one-player OOTP4 league from my current computer to a new one. I understand how licensing works I just can seem to move the files.

I could go over all that I have tried but it would be better if one of you old-pro's could cut and paste in the steps or else point me to a previous "cook book" covering this topic.

Thanks to all

How are you trying to transfer it over?

The easiest ways are probably to zip up the league folder and email yourself the file. Or you could upload it to a website and download the file on the new machine.

Another popular means to do this is by burning the league to a CD and copying it onto the new machine. However there is a drawback to do this. When you do this it changes all the files to be "Read Only". This will cause the game to crash when trying to write to the datafiles. In order to use it you will have to change all of your league files permissions so that they are NOT "Read Only."

Hope this helps.

or get someone to send it to you on the new machine via AIM.

Yass! Writing the league directory to CD and moving to the new computer (with removal of read/only) seems to be working.

Thanks much Scott.

FWIW, my previous failures where trying to backup the league, moving the backup and restoring to the new machine (DON'T TRY THAT! no matter how logical that it sounds!) and copying the whole directory structure of the OOTP program over the fresh install.

Thanks again.
