Placing guys on the active roster who aren't on the 40 man
Can this be made illegal rather than getting an error once you sim. When you sim an online league, it's highly frustrating to stop and start for 40 man roster violations. And sometimes I have to remove a member's player from the 40 man roster to make room. That shouldn't be the commish's job.
Thanks. Sorry for all the posts. Been meaning to stop by for awhile. |

Most of the time, this happens because someone forgets to add a spring training invitee to the 40.
Normally, you can't put a non-40 player on the active roster, but that restriction is inactive during spring training. |

Spring training invitees aren't required to be on the 40-man, therefore the rule can't be enforced until opening day.

yes september call ups and spring training are the worst. Even after I remind everyone to double check, it never fails that someone will still forget. it would be nice if there was the option to change that. If you run a fictional, maybe you can turn off the secondary roster. it certainly make the job easier

I've never seen the issue with September call-ups but every year we have 1-2 teams that forget about the spring invitees...

if you turn it off, people will be able to hoard younger players. unless this causes you lose control immediately when they are eligible for mil fa, then you would lose the extra 3 years you can protect them.
this isn't amajor inconvenience unless you are running an online leage. so, maybe make a house rule that you can make some "given" moves. it's completely self-inflicted due to lack of attention for a solo player. it also happens if you assign someone in the editor to a team. err on side of caution... maybe even situations where you won't do anything and have to ask people to fix before you simulate a time period. you can work out most things ahead of time and avoid the problem often. but, if it's 26+ players and 1+ is not on the secondary, yuo can assume they are to be returned to the minors without much worry - even if not it's the persons wishes, they can amend it week 2 or whatever. for those that can't pay attention, a minor repercussion typically works wonders. nothing worse than someone professing it's not their fault when it's 100% their fault, lol. some people are perpetually 6-10y.o.
