September callups

So I've just reached the point in my season where I make my September callups, but for some reason none of the players I called up are listed as being eligible for the playoff roster? Has this ever happened to anyone before, Im guessing I just messed up on the timing somehow and its not some sort of glitch, but was just curious if this has ever happened to anyone on here.

IRL players have to be on the 40-man roster as of August 31 to be eligible for the playoff roster (except for injury substitutions). I believe OOTP uses that rule as well.

September call-ups are not eligible for play-off rosters.

Sure they are, as long as they were on the 40-man roster before Sept. 1.

Yup, that rule was changed this year. I think ootp is still using the old rule though.

Actually, it was at least two years ago. But who's counting?

you can use 25 or 40 in ootp. think that was added this year, but maybe last year -- a recent change is all that's important.

league settings->rules , maybe

Yup you're right. It just seemed like last year. As a fairly new father I've lost all concept of time.

Because OOTP is holding onto a time before MLB abused the hell out of roster rules, I suppose.

Well, I expect the change was made due to clubs engaging in DL shenanigans at the end of August in order to get some players in the minors post-season eligible. By making all players on the 40-man eligible, it put an end to any such DL maneuvering.

since it was necro'd, i 'll pile on. i didn't see this reply bakc then.

about keeping the old rule:

they have to keep the rule in because of all the historical play. old rules are retained for good reason. no idea if the default is set to 2016's rules.
