Yankees no facial hair facegen policy?

I'm 5 years into my career playing out all games with the Yankees.
I just realized all of my players are clean shaven. I have Jason Stoffel on the team who irl has a red brawny beard. I tried to update it, like i have numerous facegens in the past and it keeps bouncing him and every other Yankee i tried after back to clean shaven.

If the game is keeping all my yankees clean shaven for the reason i think it is, i think thats awesome.

I've always been curious about that policy. Is it part of the CBA and/or standard MLB contracts that teams can enforce "grooming" rules. It's strange to me that facial hair with its long history in baseball is covered yet tattoos and jewelry are not.

If a player traded to the Yankees refused to shave could he be suspended without pay indefinitely? It seems weird when compared to the definitive (lesser?) punishments for breaking other rules.

I believe it's part of the contract but I'm not sure how it's enforced for recently traded players.

I always assumed that because the Yankees have been a winning team, anyone traded there during the last several years shaves to not disrupt chemistry.

Ironically enough, Mattingly adopted a no facial hair policy with the Marlins this year.

So it all started on a sunny summer day in 1973.The late George Steinbrenner (may he rest in peace) saw that many players hair covered their numbers during a performance of the american classic The Star Spangled Banner. So as any sane human being did he wrote down the infractionious players numbers, as late G Stein did not know their names, and ordered those who dared taint the Yankees uniform to cut their hair.

The official team policy states "All players, coaches and male executives are forbidden to display any facial hair other than mustaches (except for religious reasons), and scalp hair may not be grown below the collar. Long sideburns and 'mutton chops' are not specifically banned.

So.. there you go.

Also Darnell McDonald and his fantastic dreads were claimed by the Yankees on July 4, 2012 and he cut his fantastic dreads only to be demoted to SWB on July 14th after never playing for the team.

So basically there is your trade scenario.

while i wholeheartedly agree with jewelry (they are supposed to be proathletes and wear that stuff DURING the games. thats rediculous), i dont think tattoos could be enforced.
i mean, it would be somewhat unfair if u sign a player that already has plenty tattoos, but your own players couldnt get any

Wasn't suggesting that. I was questioning the illogic of tats being an ok grooming choice vs facial hair

I honestly wondered if a bearded player traded to the yankees or a player drafted by the yankees could insist on his beard. If you sign as a free agent there, it is your choice and they might add a shave clause into the contract you voluntarily sign, but guys forced to play for the yankees are in a different boat. I think this might be lawsuit material, but I'm not sure whether the US even has workers rights from what I hear...

They must conform to the club house rules, it is most likely in all contracts signed policy or not.

If Johnny Damon didn't raise a fuss, who would? Even Randy Johnson eventually agreed to the policy.

You can say, it's against the law. The Yankees will say, "you don't have to take our money."

The players choose the money and therefore the rules.

Jason Giambi was forced to cover his tattoos by wearing a sleeve.

Did it contribute to his declining numbers and awful output? We will never know, I guess.

That was a MLB rule AFAIK. I remember AJ Burnette had to wear sleeves too, with the Jays. All pitchers with tats did. Not sure about batters.

The anti-hair rule is ridiculous.

I doubt it is even enforceable with a player who is drafted by the team or traded to the team.

(If you sign a free agency contract, otoh, I could see it being enforceable.)

As I've stated I believe that it is in everyone contract that they must abide by clubhouse rules, and since the hair policy is a clubhouse rule they must follow it or face team unpaid leave, sanctions etc.
