Does pitching rotation position matter?
I am thinking of managing a Single A team after some of the job offers I am getting. If I pick a team with team No. 1 prospects in starting pitching, should there be a system of how best to keep the No. 1 from being overused or subject to injury? Is positioning within the rotation any help, whether I start him as the No. 1 or the No. 3 or 4 starter?

At that level it won't matter. You're not concerned about who he's matching up against like you would in the Majors. If you have a five man rotation and set it to go in strict order he'll always have at least four day days rest, five if there's an off day in the schedule.

that's how i look at the minors, too. regular work and always 100% rested. can't be scared of injuries -- what will you do when they get to the majors?
i think the AI already limits pitch counts a bit in the minors? but, if he's especially low for a starter you may want to set a pitch cound, too. if you manage games, just don't throw so many pitches that he isn't 100% recovered by his next start. that threshold will change as his stamina changes. |
