minor leagues team move - coaches fired?

Hi all,
Long time reader, first time poster. I'm playing a historical sim right now and I noticed that minor league teams move which is fine with me to match history. However I'm noticing that my coaches are being replaced when they do. Has anyone noticed that before or know of any fixes?

If I had to guess, I'm thinking it's a limitation of the historical teams xml file. It probably treats a team that moves like a new team, and of course a new team needs a coaching staff.

With the players, there's another xml file that indicates who should be on what team for what year. Short of creating the same for coaches (and then researching and creating thousands of historical coaches), I don't see anyway around this, myself.

Then again, I couldn't code a complex major league baseball simulation like these guys can. So maybe they can come up with a way to fix it.

You don't NEED to create thousands of historical coaches. All you need is to carry the old team's coaches into the new team.

You would need an XML file to do that, like with the players. Which means you would need to know what coaches were on what teams in what years. And if those coaches weren't in game, you'd have to either create them in the database, or let the AI fill the spots with other coaches.

The problem is that the game treats affiliate changes and franchise shifts as new teams, and deletes the old teams. And as you know, when a team gets deleted, its personnel all become free agents. The good news is that there's a file that tells the game where to put the players when the old team goes away. No such luck for the coaches.

When minor league teams change affiliations the managers change as well so I suppose the coaches do too.

When unaffiliated minor league teams move (tracked 17) the managers change as well so I suppose the coaches do too.

When affiliated minor league teams move (tracked 15) the managers usually change as well (14 of 15) so I suppose the coaches do too.
