Import export CSV Problems

I imported my ingame csv export of the player general info this morning. All the player ages are in the 1900's and their heights are messed up.

I went back to the export file and the player's ages are properly listed.

Has anyone experienced this problem before? Any ideas what the cause could be?

I opened the .csv using Excel, so perhaps it saved the birthdates incorrectly? But like I said, the dates are all accurate when I go back into the file...

Has anyone ever experienced ANY problems with the reimport function for general ratings?

Btw- any chance that the other personal info (hometown, etc.) could be added to the exportable data?

If I'm not mistaken using "excel" is the problem as it assumes a certain type of format which the db doesn't use.

Ah, I had assumed that Excel only viewed the data strangely but did not actually change the data.

Perhaps I saved the thing as an xls by accident and then saved back to a csv...

In my experience with Excel, I have found saving it as a csv will save the values you "see" on the screen. So if you need a date to be 10/20/2002, and Excel is showing it as 20-Oct-02, then it will save as 20-Oct-02.

That was exactly it. As long as what was displayed in the spreadsheet was in the correct format, the file would import correctly.

Thanks for your help!

I have some other questions about the import/export features of OOTP5

1) How exactly does the CSV import work? It's pretty obvious that when you export you get a CSV file with various ratings that can be manipulated, but are those ratings overwritten or appended when you import back in? It's pretty obvious that the key field is the player number, but say I want to do a mass player name change, should I do that in the general info file or one of the other files?

2) Can you do a partial import of CSV files? Say I want to export everything and then modify and import only a subset (all 2B's and 3B's under 25 years old), do I have to import that subset with the full file or can I import just the players I edited?

3) Can you do an import into a blank league?

4) How do "blank" fields work? I.E. say I edit a player and change his position from pitcher to position player. When I import him back in and his pitching fields are left blank, will that blank overwrite his pitching positions, or is there a character I can input that means blank or null?

Thanks!
