Run-time Issues
I've created a college baseball league that has 75 teams split into 9 divisions. I'd like to sim for a few decades to establish league history. The first couple of years went reasonably quickly - about 15 minutes per year to simulate the whole way through. But in the next couple of years, the speed slowed down drastically. By the fifth year, it takes nearly an hour to sim the whole season.
Does anyone have any ideas about what is causing this issue and how I might fix it? I don't ask for blazing speed, but I'd like to get through a season in under an hour. |

Are you saving more than 2 years of news/transaction/injury logs?

if you haven't, turn off baseball cards.... always find that my fast sims get hung up for the longest time when it's trying to create cards for all the award winners / all stars / etc....

Does it sim faster if you close the game and re-open it? I'd also make sure that you still have threading enabled, and that it hasn't accidentally turned off. The longer the game is kept open it will naturally sim a little slower, but should not be that much that fast.
Otherwise, to get quicker sim-times, you can do the following: -disable bb cards/facegen -stop generating game logs/recaps/box scores/etc... -disable trading -disable waivers/40-man roster -disable amateur draft -disable financials Some of them (amateur draft, for example) obviously will only speed up the actual draft, so certainly won't be the difference between 15 minutes and an hour. Most could be re-enabled when you want to join back in and play, and obviously would have an effect on league history, but they tend to be the most expensive functions in the game (and generally speaking, in the order I have listed, although obviously will vary heavily depending on your league setup). |

I tried many of the things you suggested and I can't seem to make a big dent in the run-time of the league.
I don't know what you mean by "threading" and whether it is enabled or not. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. |
