Advice needed on best way to set up fictional league
I want to start a new fictional solo universe and need some advice on settings please.
What I would like is something that very loosely mirrors baseball in the 1920s-40s. I want a 16 team major league with each team having one minor league affiliate (likely AA level) as I don't want to have to have the reserve roster guys who don't play anywhere. I would also have 6-8 independent leagues of varying reputations and league sizes designed to be unaffiliated minor leagues. Finally I would want the players for all of these leagues (mlb and Indy) come from another set of independent teams designed to by my college and high school leagues. I would set ages for college at 18-21 and high school at 16-18 so that when they graduate they become free agents and can sign with an MLB organization or an independent minor league team. Would this work? Can I prevent the mlb and independent leagues from creating their own players? I assume so by setting draft for each league to generate 0 players. Will the best talent gravitate to majors and will this happen with reserve era financial rules or will I need to do a lot of tweaking to finances to ensure the higher level leagues have the most money to sign guys. Any other potential issues I should be aware of? Thanks
