GM Legacy mode vs. GM & Manager

Does playing as GM and manager (vs. GM legacy mode) affect anything, for example my involvement in storylines? I play out each game either way, so it doesn't affect in lineups or in-game strategies.

I'm asking because I'd rather just be GM so I have a manager to fire as a scapegoat for my stupid decisions.

Then you would want GM only. GM and manager means you're in charge of everything. GM only means you can set lineups, depth charts, pitching roles and strategies, but your manager may overrule you (depending on his personality). Legacy mode means you're just the GM, and the manager will do whatever you tell him, so your lineups, depth charts, etc. stay as you want.

Billy Beane wishes there was a legacy mode in real life.

there is possibly a reason to do gm-legacy mode, regardless of how you play the game. if a human does not have the same attributes as a manager, then you miss out on those benefits or possibly negatives, too. it really depends on how a human manager is defined in the game... based on how other things work my guess is that we are slapped with a 100/200 rating across the board.

so, the question is: does a human manager have the same influence as an ai manager with very higher ratings across the board?

just in case we do not, i play in gm-legacy mode. the firing thing is a great idea too, lol. even if you play things out, it affects preseason predictions and whatever headaches it creates from having to re-do the lineup each game you start to playout. with legacy mode on, you can just set your lineup and staff and not have to do it each time. it's a very uesful setting.

So unless I find out that I can affect the development of storylines as GM & Manager, I'll just stick with in legacy mode so I can play George Steinbrenner.

Thanks.
