Weird trade AI glitch.

I'm trying to shop around a pitcher in his last year of arb. Every team I talk to, when I ask for prospects, gives me the line about not wanting any overpaid veterans and won't accept any trade. However, if I ask for a star young player still making league minimum AND the same prospects, they accept the deal. It makes no sense that a team would only trade me their middle-tier prospect if I also take a 25 year old shortstop with 1 year of service who just put up 4.3 WAR off their hands.

Why are teams seemingly giving their young building blocks negative trade value?

Very hard trade difficulty, neutral on veterans/prospects, 25/50/20/5 ratings evaluation settings, if it helps.

Nevermind. When I figure out how to ask my question, I'll ask it. Geez....brain-stutter.

Okay. What's the pitcher's projected arbitration value and what's his age? The 25-year-old one year of service, I assume he's at the minimum? And what's his quality projection, despite his most recent performance, unless you have AI eval set high for this year's stats? Edit: See now it's 50. Fairly good weight. So, guess I'm asking what his potential is, if you use overall/pot ratings.

The pitcher is 28, already agreed to a 7 million dollar salary. He put up 3 straight seasons of 4-4.5 WAR before turning in a replacement level clunker in the most recent season. The 25 year old has 4 star current and potential.

The pitcher is nearing the end of club control and they want to get somethign before not paying him -- or somethign simpler with similar effects. something is creating value (or a perceived loss of value) from their perspective. the recent season may be enough... it may be a culmination of multiple factors.

correct me if wrong.. ai eval only affects overall and potential. the individual ratings are based on scouting accuracy and your scouting director. so, looking over scouting reports will tell you alot more about that SP then his season stats during that time. with pitching, it is important to make sure a pitching repertoire is not suspect. for batting i can't think of much. This SP may be a 1-2 star with lipstick on.

I'll try this tonight to see if I get the same bug. So if I ask the AI for a talented 25-year old, it should increase the chances that it accepts a trade that it previously hated?
