Franchise Prestige

I'd like to see OOTP implement a franchise prestige rating akin to the prestige rating we already have for leagues. A franchise's rating could go up or down over time based on: how long the franchise has been around, how long it's been in one city, how many championships it has won, and how long it has consistently been in contention. (On the flip side, teams that have consistently struggled would find their prestige rating go down).

Ideally, the longer a team has been around and the more polarized its rating, the less the rating will vary from year to year. Ie, a team that has been around for over a century and has a historic W-L record of .550 won't suffer too much from going under .500 for one season, while an expansion team would experience a huge boost if it won a championship or two in its first decade of existence.

The rationale for having this rating is based on what we see across professional sports in North America, where certain teams are seen as historically prestigious regardless of their performance that particular year. Teams like the New York Yankees or the NBA's LA Lakers are always going to have nationwide interest and are always going to merit at least a second look from free agents based on who those teams are and what their histories have been - even when they're having a rough year or two.

I could see this rating affecting the signing of free agents, draft picks and team staff, as well as determining how the national media dollars get split between the teams. After all, a Yankees - Red Sox game is going to have an inherent interest that A's - Twins wouldn't have.

To add to interactivity, players and personnel could also have a rating reflecting how much they care about prestige, and this rating could be contrasted with Loyalty. A player with low Prestige and high Loyalty might strongly prefer to play for their hometown team, whereas a player with high Prestige and low Loyalty would care more about going to a historically prestigious franchise. (And a player with average ratings in both areas wouldn't really care).

I really like this idea - I hope this gains some traction.
