Thoughts on "Offer Extensions..."
Guys, what's your thoughts on the personnel screen in which you can click on "Offer Extensions to all Expiring Minor League Personnel"?
Generally, if a coach's contract is coming to an end and you go to offer him extension, he may reply I am not interested in working for this club. However, click on the offer extensions to all, and he is now signed. Is it a cheat? |

I have never seen a guy that said he was not interested in resigning get an extension when clicking "Offer Extensions to all Expiring Minor League Personnel". In fact I just went through my minor leagues one coach at a time and the ones who said they did not want to resign, did not when clicking that button.

Same here. Maybe you can put it down to him changing his mind, and therefore not a cheat...

it's a cheat when extensions are disabled.

The offer extensions to all potential FA's would only apply to players, not coaches, right? How do you get coaches caught up in this net?

I'd agree though that a way to not feel like it's cheating is to make the coach "you" and then give him whatever contract with your team you want. Generally, if you can do it without being in commissioner mode and without intentionally crashing the program (as in "I lost this game; I'll crash the program so it doesn't save and I can try it again") then it's not a cheat. At most it can be an exploit, and from reading the board not just I but also others tend to come up with "house rules" about what we allow ourselves to do, or disallow, in terms of exploits. |

It all depends on how well the team did & whether or not the coach's philosophy is in line with mine or what I think is best for the team. It's a case-by-case basis for me with each individual coach.

Guys want jobs, I need guys to fill positions, and I don't care a whole lot how much they get paid. It's the "don't worry about this for six months" button for me.
