Best Way to Add Disappearing Players

So I started the 16 MLB quickstart, made myself GM of an expansion team, and did an expansion draft. After a week of making minor trades and signing some minor league free agents and coaches, I go to set my lineups before opening day and I realize literally my two best MLB-ready players in Yasmani Grandal and Doug Fister are completely missing from the game.

I've heard of this problem before, but never knowingly encountered it. Not disappointed with the game, but I was wondering if anyone knows the best way to re-add vanishing players to a save?

Try freezing the roster. I don't know if that will work or not.
