What Happens to Players Without More Seasons in Hist. Ratings Change Based on Real Stats

In a historic league with change ratings based on real life stats, what happens to players without any more seasons:

- Created players who aren't in the historic database. Do their ratings change based on the OOTP development engine?

- Players who don't have any more real seasons. For example Donald Young on the 1969 Cubs was 23 in 1969, but that was his final season.

Assuming you don't have historical players miss seasons or retire as in real life selected, then it's my understanding that the development engine takes over.

Yes, the development engine takes over unless you have disabled it.

No the development engine does not take over in a recalc league.

The last year ratings Are their ratings forever. Hence a 1 year pitching wonder who retired at 22 might go to win 400 games as they are a superstar still at age 48.

Issue w historical. When i play i go in every year or two and weeken those type of players to keep the league balanced.

This is not true. The development engine does take over when re-calc runs out of stats. I've seen Clayton Kershaw crash and burn with my own eyes and if what you're saying were true, he would've been out there until he was 50 or so, but he was done after his age 33 season and hung on pathetically as a free agent for four more years without getting a sniff.

I play with a combination of recalc and the OOTP player development engine. I can't discuss player ratings, I pay absolutely zero attention to them. But, I simply don't agree that players repeat their final recalc season over and over and over again. I've seen good/great(potential) players have Hall of Fame worthy careers, but I've also seen players reach the end of their real life playing days(recalc years) and go into a decline as well. AJ had Clayton Kershaw. I had David Price. Price was lights out until his final recalc season, had a rough but not bad first non recalc season, a even rougher 2nd season and found himself in the bullpen by the third season. Price is just one player that comes to mind, but I've seen it with others as well.

I don't see players tank at age 32 across the board either with a combo of recalc and development. Sure if they started to regress in real life they do in OOTP as well, but it's not like every single player is having this occur.

This is with development on, default aging and talent change randomness set to 100.

If they repeat their final season over and over, then OOTP has Groundhog Day mode.

Is this Brand new for 17. Because no other version has done this.

Take AS an example bill keister. His last year is 1903 i believe, good season. Play out the years. My guess is his ratings from 1904 oneward will be exactly the same.

Unless 17 is different this is how 16 15 14 etc works
In a recalc league with no development on the ratings never change after a players final year.

Orcin clearly states that development kicks in, unless you disable it.

Yes of course.

My issue is playing just recalc leagues.. Then they never change on no more stats. I was just informing the op what will happen in an only recalc league.

The thread is not about this. You need to read the OP again.

Actually O, not sure what the OP meant by his line

"change ratings based on real life stats"

It sounded like a recalc game to me, why i was responding. Perhaps he could chime in to let us know what recalc and development settings he is using

"Actually O, not sure what the OP meant by his line..."

That line is the name of a setting in HISTORICAL tab.

How do I check if the recalc engine is enabled. A created player in a historic league, 1969, tanked after 1969. His ratings fell to nothing. His injury ratings went way up. He changed from a CF to a RP with 5's for most of his pitches. Even his age changed.

I have recalc player ratings based on real stats after each year checked.

On Players & Facegen "Disable Player Development" isn't checked.

Who is the player?

Your settings as described are: recalc on and player development on.
