At what point will you hit the "Game" button when you're simming in-game?

So I usually just manage the hitting, I do half inning when its my pitcher out there but I do put guys up in the bullpen when nec.

Usually Ill sim out the game though when I hit the 3rd inning and my SP has given up like 7 runs already, Im like lost cause - adios and good luck boys (I then head up to the skybox and fall asleep)

Playing Sim ball since Microleague Baseball on my C64 in Highschool, Then Front Page Sports (some Earl Weaver on the Amiga in there as well) and finally made the shift to OOTP around version 2. Been here ever since

I tend to use 1 pitch mode when I'm taking part instead of doing a straight sim, and don't go to pitch by pitch unless it's a clutch situation. But it's usually the first game in a series, important games, etc. I trust my manager, or rather the little **** wont let me edit "his" lineups.

Only when my team has me fuming... for example, when I'm up by 5 runs and turn the game over to a great bullpen only to see: walk, walk, (change to better reliever), hit batter, E6 two runners score, single, (change to even better reliever), walk, GRAND SLAM!!!! Don't care if I'm only down a run and there are two innings left, I'm off to the fictional bar in the fictional ballpark that just real life pissed me off.

Yeah, I try to play out as much as possible, if only to make sure my bullpen gets used the way I want. Definitely a lot of 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1....

I never played one pitch mode does it let you pick each specific pitch? Like fastball, curveball. Slider ect?

No, one-pitch-mode means it only shows you the pitch where the play happens (hit, out, whatever) as opposed to seeing all the pitches. Speeds the game up. You don't get to select individual pitches in any mode.

Would be nice to be able to pick which individual pitch you want to throw

I play the game out in 1 pitch mode and only do simming if trying to hurry through season so I can start season with new OOTP

I am a 1 pitch guy myself but as noted kind of just hit game to finish one if Im getting crushed in inning 3 or 4

I play out all the games in one pitch mode, except under two circumstances:

1. A quick baserunner is on for either team. It's easier to manage the run game in pitch-by-pitch mode.

2. If I'm getting crushed, I'll sim to the end of the game.

One of the highlights of Front Page Sports Baseball back in the day. Choose pitch and location and then actual pitch was based on players ratings.

Me too, although I usually try to put in the long relief guy before I check out to keep the AI from using all the good relievers one inning each

I will also use "finish inning" or whatever it is when a pitcher gets hammered and isn't tired. Oh, you allowed 4 runs in the 7th? Good, you're gonna pitch until your arm falls off

Wow. How long does a game take? That sounds cool, but do you have time to fully take advantage of OOTP's other great parts (scouting, trading, player management in general)?
