importing game from OOTP16

Is there an alternative way to import the game I had from OOTP16. I tried 3 times to no avail the proper way and I tried to copy and paste 16 files to the OOTP17 in the saved folder. Didn't work either.
Any other ideas????

When i do it the proper way it takes 24 hours to load due to the almanac being turned on so it loads the almanac for every season.

if this makes no sense, no reason to reply.. not 100% sure aobut almanac being turned on and what it means. reports and such generated? etc etc

can it be turned off before the import process begins then turn back on after the fact without losing anything?

if the output has changed at all, each year's output would have to be processed for import. so, if old output is not important to retain, try removing it before the import process. then, it doesn't have to go through each of those file to make it viable for '17.

I am having trouble with this as well.

I managed to import my OOTP16 game. But when I restarted OOTP17 it could not load the file. "Error loading sqluite database"or something like that.

I don't know what to do.

You could move the almanac out of the OOTP 16 saved game folder, then import, and then move it into the OOTP 17 saved game. That will speed things up considerably

I have tried several times now. It works fine to import the 16' game. But as soon as I quit OOTP17 and try to load the save game two dialog boxes appear.

The first one says: "Error, could not initialize sqlite database!"

I click OK (the only possible choice), and a second box appear that says: "The loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version."

I don't know how to get around this. I have tried to import - backup and reload from backup, but it's the same error.

Any suggestions?

I'm just about to import my long-running saved OOTP16 game, thanks for that tip Markus.

Import the OOTP 16 saved game and close OOTP. Locate the saved game folder of the newly imported league. It should NOT contain a file text_data.dat. If you find such a file, delete it. Open the temp folder which is inside your saved game folder. Delete all files there. Restart OOTP 17 and open the saved game.

EDIT: Before you import the OOTP 16 game, make sure that the target folder does NOT exist. If it already exists, delete it.

There is no such file in my save folder. And the temp folder was empty. Also, I tried to start a new game (standard game) and I got the same error. Maybe the entire install is corrupt and I should try install it again? If so, should I un-license the game first?

I am running with windows 10 by the way.

Try right-clicking the OOTP 17 icon and select "run as admin".

I did that. Same error. I have now also tried to uninstall the game and re-install it. Same error. Nothing seems to work.

I can't create a new standard game. I can't launch a quickstart. I can import a OOTP16 game, but I can not reload it once I have imported it.

As it is, I am unable to play OOTP17.

I had this issue and it was discussed in this thread

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d-leagues.html

The fix for me was to uninstall then reinstall the game. After that the import worked flawlessly with all history included.

first off it takes 24-48 hours to import the league. Second Its already on database. and I do not see anything about text database. When I click edit there is nothing except nation/flag to select.

An update: I have now managed to find a way. Even though I don't know what caused the problem.

First I uninstalled OOTP17 and re-installed it. That didn't help at all.

I then installed the game again, but on drive D instead of C. Then I launched a quickstart game and it worked! I then imported my OOTP16 game and that worked too.

So now I can play OOTP17, but I have two installs, one on C and one on D. I don't dare to uninstall the corrupt C-version so I will just let it stay there.

Wow - you should think about a new C drive... at least check that drive and make sure it has no failures

Might this issue be the same that is reffered to in the patch that says that database file can not be saved due to special characters in the file system?

Im asking because my name (and my computer's name) is Björn (swedish). I guess {Ö} could count as a special character? Maybe that is why it worked OK when I installed on the D-drive?

Related to this post, when I imported, I lost all my small logos. Do those not import?
