Understanding coaches
Okay guys I'm trying to understand coaches in this game. I will post two guys in two of my farm systems. I'm assuming the better wording that's used on the top part the better even if no one is mentioned on list of players with higher and lower influence. Like on my first screen shot this guy shows to be excellent for my team yet NO ONE is listed under higher influence or lower influence. I still assume hes better than the guy on my 2nd screenshot that has "average" for my team even if he has a high influence on like 6 of my guys. Am I correct??

Oh one more question is it better to have managers who have a reputation of lets say fair or good but are considered below average in that section of relationships or an inexperienced or unproven manager with good or excellent in the relationships page?

I know I cant seem to stop asking questions but what about the managers that are all lets say "average" for that specific team and have LOTS of players listed on both sides, higher and lower influence. Compared to another "average" with only lets say 2 on higher and lower influence. Who is the best suited coach?? One of many names listed or very few?

Can someone please move this to general discussions under the ootp 17 section? I didn't mean to put it here.

1. I believe the average/excellent at the top just means how good they are at developing players based off of their personality (controlling, easygoing, etc). I would take the guy listed as excellent.
2. Coaching reputation means nothing. It basically shows how good the teams they've coached have done. It does not show how good of a coach they are. 3. It's really up to you. If the players on the higher influence side are more important than the players on the lower influence side, then that coach is probably better. If it was reversed, I would take the neutral coach. |

Another consideration is your minor league coaches. All of the above would apply of course. I use Editor to get greater detail on their strengths (making sure my candidate pitching coach is both highly rated at teaching pitching and working with younger players).
I have done this up and down my minor league system. Since I typically finish the season well, I normally have low draft picks (meaning the highest rated players get drafted before it's my turn). Yet, the start of this season, my Minor League system had the #2, #3, #5 and #6 rated minor league players - I attribute this to my coaches. |
