Who Remembers?
Back in the days of OOTP 2, 3, 4, we used to stay up all night chatting on the old boards, anxiously awaiting for Markus to release the game around 7-8 AM.
Seems like a long time ago now. When I remember first starting OOTP 1, and now here we are at 17. OOTP is better than fine wine - it improves immensely every year. Markus will remember for sure - anyone else? |

I remember going to Best Buy trying to get the CD when it was called Season Ticket. Then in 2006 I learned of the site and been here ever since. At the time you could order the CD via this site.

I first found it after returning home from deployment to Iraq at Best Buy in 2009 (OOTP 11) and that day, my Baseball Mogul disk and software went into the stuff from Iraq box, still not having been opened since.

My first experience was getting OOTP 9 on Steam in 2009. I wanted something low bandwidth for my work computer for when I traveled, and liked the idea of running my own team. I had no idea what was doing, didn't dig hard enough, and played the game for like an afternoon before shelving it and forgetting about it.
In a true Dory moment I came across OOTP 14 a few years later, bought it, loved it, and have played 14,15, and 16 now. Not too long ago I saw OOTP 9 in my Steam list and was like "oh yeaaaahhh!" lol. |

Time has changed ... now we all check the boards several times daily in mid-January to find out the announcement of the release date and when pre-order starts

What I do remember is finding Season Ticket on the shelf and the now long defunct Virgin Mega Store in Times Square. As I recall (and I think I posted about this in some thread several years ago) I grabbed Season Ticket wasn't really too impressed. Then found OOTP like a year or two later. |

I remember. One of the best posts of all-time was back then, when somebody wrote something like "Guys, I just had sex with my girlfriend just to kill the time until the OOTP release... twice. She's now a fan of the game"

Markus, I'm sure that comment made all those years of development worth it!

I had a holiday in the US, saw my first baseball game (Mets v Cardinals) and that got me hooked on Baseball. Managing in High Heat was my first foray into that side of things. Then another holiday a couple of years later saw me in a Mall and into a computer store (no idea what it was called now) and there on the shelf was this thing called Season Ticket Baseball. Bought it, started a season as Montreal and the rest as they say is history.
I think I might start a historical season in 2001 as Montreal in memory of that. Although if I'm not sacked I'll walk out when they move the franchise to Washington. Being from Europe where franchise teams is not really a concept I can't imagine having my team moved somewhere else. It must be heartbreaking! oh look 1 left in stock Amazon.com: Season Ticket Baseball - PC: Video Games |

Growing up I had Pure Stat Baseball. The version I had came with the 1985 teams and I think 8 classic teams. You could create and save your own teams, but it didn't have a season or career mode.
I actually wrote a program to keep yearly stats for all the players and kept track of ever teams schedule and record in a 3-ring binder. I'd sim a 3 game series, print out the stats for the 3 games and type in each players stats into my own program. Can't imagine how much time I spent doing that. At some point I upgraded my computer and the Pure Stat didn't work on the new one. I tried multiple games over the years, but nothing was as good. Finally found OOTP 3, which was just what I was looking for. A good simulation and it actually kept track of all the season and career stats for me. Pure Sim did have graphics that showed each play. I guess OOTP 17 has finally caught up with it. ![]() ![]()

I remember, I have been playing this game since it basically came out, and what progress they have made. I still learn something new each day, and with each version. Baseball is great, this game helps me love it even more.
