Can we get those annoying red/green arrows eliminated?
Love the game of course, but those arrows that show up next to my minor leaguers are so annoying. I play stats only, so have eliminated the star ratings, and would be nice if we had an option to remove the arrows. I don't normally follow them anyway, but was just checking on this for 17.

this thread made me fire up the game to check because I dont even remember seeing them anymore, although I did remember them.
I must have conditioned myself to ignore them because when I loaded the game they are definitely there, but obviously I learned to ignore them. seems like a reasonable thing to be a toggle on\off

I suspect this could be modded incredibly quickly and easily. Just find the arrow graphics in the OOTP install and replace them with a white/blank graphic.

Looked at 16 and it appears they're called down and up in the images file of the specific skin folder, so Lukas is right, provided you can, or have someone who can, edit the graphic and know how to reload the skin files.

Are these arrows not significant? When i see them I try to move guys around. Is that a waste of time?

IIRC, they're your coaches' recommendations of where they should go. You can, of course, make those decisions yourself in opposition to their views.

I see no compelling reason to eliminate them.

The only issue I see (and please correct me if I'm wrong) is I'm not sure the arrows are actually based on any one or group of recommendations, and rather, just a general AI process. In other words, if you were allowing the AI to control promotions/demotions, it's what it would be doing. If you go to your minor league development report however, some players are listed as "possibly ready" while others might be listed as "ready" or "probably ready".

They can be helpful for those who don't obsess over their minors. I look at them as a suggestion I can follow or not.

Thanks for all the replies. OOTP community is solid with responses as always! Not a deal breaker for me by any means, and as some pointed out, I tend to ignore them as well and make judgments on my own.

It is but if you have Steam you have to re-drop them every time there is an update. I gave up and just ignore them.

Yes. The arrows will only destroy your organizations morale.

Another option, maybe, is to just delete the files. I did this with the diagonal layover that was part of 16's original opening screen with no ill effect.

I tend to use them as a guideline, not always taking the advice they offer, but sometimes it's helped look at someone I may have missed in the minors. So i'd like to keep them, for whatever that's worth.

The actual 'arrows' have no affect but demoting players will have a negative affect on some player's morale, not all but many, and promoting often improves a player's morale.
To me they just sort of act has a pointer to someone I should take a look at. I often don't follow the advice but it can draw attention to someone that needs to go up or down (and if down maybe outright released). Last edited by byzeil; 02-27-2016 at 07:24 PM. |
