2 Questions About the Tigers

1) Who holds the single season mark for HR by a rookie?

2) Who holds the record for strikeouts (pitching) in a game?

Just trying to fill in the blanks in my record book.

From the Detroit Free Press '99 Tigers season preview (under Home Run Facts):

Most homers by rookie: 35 -- Rudy York (1937)

Can't help you with the K record, though.

Oh yeah, pretty sweet little game isn't it?

I found the info about York recently as well and the closest I can find to K's in a game is 14 by Joe Coleman in 1972. That was in a playoff game however so I'm not sure it 'counts'.

Found the last peice. According to Baseball Chronology, the record for strikeouts in a game was set by Mickey Lolich in 1969. He fanned 16 batters.
