WBL World Baseball League 1900-Future
been working on this for years, including compiling logos and baseball card templates. Made a spreadsheet for the WBL layout, expansion and relocation over the years to its final format in 2010.
There is only 1 league until 1980 (so only 1 player gets each award, like all other sports) but then the introduction of a team in London and Barcelona forces 2 leagues due to travel issues... Final format is 2 leagues with 3 divisions each, 6 teams per division, 1 division for teams in Asia (Far East only) and 1 division for Europe. AAA is introduced in 1975 as two leagues, the European League and Asian League (they do not play each other), and is the only minor league without a maximum age restriction (idea is that this is where older players and players not good enough to make the majors will play out their careers and actually be paid more than real minor leagues because of the leagues being based in European and Asian large cities that don't have their own pro teams). This league also has their own team nicknames (not the same as the WBL/Pro teams nickname, like the "Athens Titans" and "Kobe Hammerheads"). There is also a college feeder league which consists of 96 teams once the year 2000 rolls around. This is sort of a re-write to history, semi-historic as I am using about 300 real players throughout history (manually importing each year and putting on a college team at age 17-18), while the rest of the league is fictitious players. League starts in 1900 instead of the NL and AL merging together. Nothing changes for the first 40 years until the Chicago Otters decide to relocate to Minnesota. In this alternate reality, baseball spread more in Europe during the 2 wars than in real life (becoming as popular as football/soccer). So over the years I am improving baseball quality in those countries and having college created players coming from more European countries as well as Asia. This is a fully integrated league from the start (Black, Asian, White...). The invention of the Concorde in the 70s allows for London to have a team and eventually the WBL owns 4 of its own Concordes for travel to/from Europe/Asia.
