I assume there's general wailing and gnashing of teeth in the twitter world from Heyward signing with the Cubs?
Would've been nice to hang onto him for more than just one season, but that's the way it goes.... good luck to him. Cubs could be one scary team for awhile if they can stay healthy. as for the Cards.... easy come, easy go... we lost Pujols and haven't missed a beat, so not too worried about losing Heyward. edit: just got an alert on my phone that the Cards are now "aggressively pursing" Alex Gordon.... course, they said that about Heyward, too; so can't say I put much stock into it... That Twitter account has been around for awhile. I actually thought they stopped tweeting but I guess not.
Every fanbase has bad apples. But not every fanbase calls themselves the best fans in baseball...

Yikes! What an embarrassment to the Cardinal fan base.

The Cardinals could certainly use Heyward..but they can save 200 million, and buy a frontline starter as well, that would add MORE value to the team than a smallish upgrade to Grichuk. |

I never wanted to make Heyward the highest paid Cardinal of all time so I'm glad the team didn't sign him.
The Cards over achieved last season and aren't in a good position to win in 16 but I think will be stacked again in 17 and 18. Let the Cubs spend a mint and when the curse still stands the Cards won't have bad looking term contacts on the books.

God, will people PLEASE stop taking that stupid Twitter account seriously? I'll keep saying this until I'm blue in the face, so listen up...
You can cherry-pick comments from ANY team's fans to make 'em look bad. Any team. It may just be a bit easier here, because the Cardinals have a lot of fans in a part of the country that's a haven for stupid redneck types who say stupid crap without thinking about it. I bet you could find just as bad from Braves fans if you cherry-picked Twitter comments, for similar reasons. Hell, if we're going into bad fans, Dodger fans beat up Giants fans, for god's sakes. Cubs fans get insufferable over the least little victory. And of course, the many Phillies fan faux pas over the years. And yes, Yankees fans are still pretty obnoxious. (Happy, Bru?) ![]() I don't remember Cardinal fans beating up any, say, Cubs fans. And the "best fans" thing? From a Sporting News back in the 80's, IIRC. Like any other team's fans wouldn't take that and run with it. Please. How much do you wanna bet that Twitter account's written by some jealous Cubs fan? The Cardinals are good, have been good for a while, and are likely to stay good for a few years longer. Deal, people. Sheesh. |

As a life long Cardinals fan, I am not the slightest bit upset that we lost out on Heyward. He's not a middle of the order type bat that should warrant that kind of contract. His biggest asset would be his defense, but as he ages, that will slip. The worst thing the Cards management should have done is block Pisciotty from getting a starting job, so kudos to the team for not messing that one up.
About the twitter account, that's the problem with social media, gives every idiot a voice to be heard. |

How is he a trader to the Cardinals? He only had 1 season in St. Louis and had no entrenched loyalty to the area.

Geez, people, at least learn to spell "traitor" right if you're going to call Heyward one.
I don't think he is, because, as stated previously, only one year in St. Louis...

Isn't the real issue that now he's playing for the Cardinals' division rivals, coming off a 98-win season? It wouldn't be so bad if he had signed anywhere else
