Payroll Accounting?

I've not paid attention to this, but as the season progresses does OOTP's accounting pay players by the day, by the game, or in some other fashion?

If, for example, the season spans 180 days, vs. 162 games, do players get paid on off-days?

I've assumed it's on a day-by-day basis. I suppose I should just check it in a game world itself, but figured someone might know off the top of your head.
