Forget how to do this - Need help....
I want to create a fictional league(players) but have the real MLB teams, and can't remember how to do this without going through the laborious task of editing the names. Thought I did this in the past, but can't remember how? Thanks in advance for your help!

If you're looking to play an MLB setup with fictional only players, just follow these steps:
- Start a standard MLB game. (or historical, whichever you're looking to play) - Release all players to free agency (all leagues including minors if you want to wipe out everyone). This is done in the functions part of league settings. At that point, delete them all which will wipe out league history up until that point, assuming that's what you want - to start fresh. - Now use the "generate fictional players for all teams" option, which is also in the functions part of the league settings screen. Voila. Completely fictional MLB. My favorite way to play! I take it a step further by doing all of this in 1901, and then simming until 2015. This way, there's a fictional history of the game. |

do this for the minors and all the FAs, too. the FA are less important. also, i'm not sure if you can generate FA like you can when filling all teams.
also, i believe you will have to delete the first 3-5 draft pools to avoid real players that are currently amateurs in 2015. in addition to your wish to have a fictional league, it's helpful in other ways due to the difference in player makeup between the real amateurs and fictionally generated amateurs. you can also acheive this by renaming teams during league creation of a fictional league - the logos and such will auto load if city/nicknames are the same. however, you'll only have 6 minor league teams per MLB team. that's a plus for me, but maybe a drawback for you. If you need to generate some free agents, just go to the Free Agents tab under Transactions and click Available Actions then Create Fictional Players. You can create as many as you want at one time.

There's a quicker way to do this. I'm at work now, but when you create a fictional league there's an option to use the real world setup (I think that's what it's called).

i think that only comes with 6-tier minor league system. that may or may not be important to them.
