What's the best way to do this?
How can I quickly create a hypothetical World Series in OOTP?
I've always wanted to play a world series between the 1969 Mets and The '67 Boston Red Sox. There seems to be no easy way to do this, though. Any thoughts? I know you can do this sort of thing with other baseball sims... Sure wish you could do it in OOTP ![]() |

I think the easiest way to do it would be to create a new fictional league with just two teams, switch to historical team selection, select the two teams that you would like, schedule a one game season and both teams will head to the World Series.

I *think* there is an easier way to do this, but I'm not in front of my computer right now. Will try to come back later...

There should be an option in the main menu you can just select which ever team from whatever year and play against any other team from any other lead from any other era just to be a play a exhibition game

That's what I was thinking too. Just need to find the exact option.

Once you've loaded a league, you can play an exhibition game from the Play menu between any two teams in the league without it affecting the actual season in progress, however I don't think there's a way to do it with any historical team you like. Has to be from the league you've got loaded.

It's not super easy but it's doable.
Do this: 1. Create a new historical league using 1969 and whatever historical settings you prefer. 2. Rename the league Major League Baseball 69. 3. Add a new historical league to this game using 1967. 4. Rename the league Major League Baseball 67. 5. Start the game. 6. Go to Play >> Play Exhibition Game and choose the two teams you want. Then repeat for each game. Alternately, if you want it more scheduled, you should be able to do this, although I haven't tested: Go into the schedule editor. Clear the existing schedule, then use the options at the bottom of the screen to schedule a 7-game exhibition series between the two.

But, that is a good suggestion, and it may be the best way right now. Last edited by drksd4848; 08-28-2015 at 02:29 PM. |

There's also the sim module, which lets you schedule a best-of series between two teams, so you could set up a league with those teams and then use that to sim a World Series. That's what I did last year when simming the World Series for my blog posts.
However, creating a one-game season and then heading straight to the WS (be sure to reset fatigue first) might be a better option, since right now OOTP treats sim module games as exhibitions. Markus told me the AI has a "big game" option that it uses in playoff games, and it's something he will add as a checkbox for sim module use, so we can sim hypothetical playoff series that way. |

Get this: I created a fictional league to match up the 88 Mets vs 88 Sox, imported only those two teams to the league, set up a 1 game season and the game crashed like the Hindenburg.
Redid the same league (because the other one was vanquished) with a three game series and it worked, but some seriously wonky things happened: Each game had scores like 25-1, or both teams committing 8 errors a piece... etc... ![]() |

I asked the devs about that and was told you should file a support ticket, assuming you're running the latest version. If you don't have the latest version, please update the game and see if it happens again -- Matt thought it might be related to a bug that was fixed in the newest update.
