created player sent to triple a

I hope this is in the right place but I was doing a game and created 2 fictional players from the free agents screen (created a starting pitcher and a center field player) both were set up where I wanted them to play and I auto-played to the first game and I see both players aren't where I put them.

i simulated the game then searched one of the players and he had been put in one of the triple a teams and I think he had also gone down half a star

why has this happened and what do i do to make sure it don't happen again?

Well, two things. First, make sure you are in control of the team. That means being hired as GM (first red box below), not just the temporary "Acting As" that you can do as commissioner. The changes you make as commissioner can be overturned later if you don't stay "Acting As."

Secondly, make sure it's your name that appears in Team Controls in the pull-down menu for Minor League Promotions & Demotions (second red box). To protect my innocence, I have blurred out my own name but you can see that I control almost everything except hiring and firing of minor league coaches and minor league lineups/depth charts/pitching staffs.

As far as losing the star, that can happen if your scout happened to do a re-scouting of the player in the meantime. I'm not sure about this but re-scouting may occur automatically when a player is promoted or demoted.
