Help progressing my farm system
I get a ton of guys with 4 to 5 star potential and I try to grow them in the minors but maybe one and most times none of them turn out... the best i get is prospects from other teams haha.. this is my first year playing and im addicted.. so I just wanted some pointers! I love this game!

Additionally, on the right hand side, under "Available Actions", choose "Minor league system report", and it will give a detailed listing of your minor league system, showing what players it *thinks* are ready for promotion (Ready for AAA, for example), or (Probably overmatched at AAA). |

I use that but often times i never see any arrows for rookie league teams. And how fast do you pull someone out of your international complex?

As for the international complex, I promote the players who have reached 18 to the rookie leagues throughout the season. |

What i do is shortlist all my best prospects, disable AI demotion/promotion and check up on them every month, and if i think theyre ready, i promote them.

I used to use force start for all my prospects, but then someone pointed out this means they don't get experience at other positions, so they become, say, SS only (with no backing up 2nd or 3rd), and thus are either starters or nothing.
Shortlist makes a lot more sense. |

Let's assume you keep playing with no roster limits Generally speaking, I...
Keep about 30 players at AAA, to ensure backups for injuries without moving players. Keep about 30 players at AA, same reason Keep about 30 players at High A/A OR 35 if only one A team Keep about 40-45 at rookie, to ensure I have players ready to fill in at the other levels who aren't prospects in the event of major injuries. So basically, 2 extra catchers, 2-5 extra OF, 5 extra pitchers, etc. The thing is, if you keep too many, folks don't get a chance to play, so you have no idea if they're worth keeping. That's the main reason for not going above 30-35 players on a team. |

There's talk both ways about how you do it--but make sure your lowest league has NO limit. Otherwise, folks will get dropped/signed in a weird loop. I've played both ways and honestly, since it's easier for the AI to process with no limit (doesn't have to pick between player A or B), and since I can keep my own council and not abuse the no-limit rule, I tend to leave limits off these days. |

bottomline is to get the best coaching staff and start with the big leagues then work your way down. Will take a while so just milk other teams farm clubs a bit ... once your farm coaching staffs is good then you can work it good.

Actually, as long as your lowest level is set to at least 35 you should be fine. I have 35 at my rookie league, 25 in my other leagues, and it works great. Actually thinking of bumping my non-rookie leagues to 27 or 28, just because I am seeing cases where bullpens are getting blown out too often.
