Jacksonville Huskies
Indianapolis Thunder
Portland Jesters

Relocated:
Tampa Bay to Las Vegas

I came up with:

I usually get the comp picking Columbus, Jacksonville or Indianapolis.

I always sim thru the 1st season of OOTP when a new version comes out and add the New Orleans Hurricanes and the Portland Beavers or Nashville Volunteers

When my league expanded, I got Jacksonville and Charlotte. I immediately edited Jacksonville to San Antonio and changed the names of both teams, finding logos in one of the download packs.

I also moved Washington back to Montreal - the Expos ride again! - and put the 32 teams in four 8-team divisions.

I had the Columbus Steelheads and Austin Peanuts last time; in an earlier game, the Padres moved and became the Columbus Jawbreakers. There was also a game where we had an expansion team called, of all things, the Jacksonville New Order…I kept imagining them in Hugo Boss uniforms with peaked caps…I can't remember who their expansion partner was, though.

I didn't understand it, either; they were making money. I guess Columbus is just that irresistable.

It was right after the team was sold to a new owner; the fans must have loved that.

Not in this or any other lifetime, unless there was more to that hacking scandal than anybody thought.

The game gave me these for expansion teams: Boston Massacre, New York Times, Austin City Limits, Detroit Wheels, Delaware Destroyers, New Jersey Turnpike, Chicago Fire, San Diego Zoo, Philadelphia Lawyers, Florida Keys, California Dreamin, Houston Livestock Show, San Francisco Earthquake, Georgia Satellites, Baltimore Crabs, Golden Gate Bridge, San Andreas Fault.

No not really. I just made that all up.

I live in Tucson and trust me, this city is light years from ever having a team. They can't even keep spring training or a minor league team here much less an MLB club. So this would be about as fictional as you can get in my opinion.

I expanded my MLB league to 32 with the Expos and Portland. I moved the league to four divisions of eight teams.

The very next season the AI expands in to Jacksonville and San Antonio.

At first it made me a little cranky but I have gotten used to it. The challenge of the new '16 game combined with all the new teams has made the game more fun for me to play.

Of note, Montreal is the only market that is having success. All three other team have struggled mightily at the box office.

Not an expansion team, but actual game-generated college feeder team

I got the Columbus Nordiques and Indianapolis Woodpeckers.

I originally changed to 4 8-team divisions, but then thought that 8 4-team divisions would be more realistic (what with MLB wanting more teams to be in the running for playoff spots longer). Unfortunately that led to a sub-.500 champion only 2 years in. But, from the money guys' standpoint, I'm sure that's a feature rather than a bug.

I set round 1 of the playoffs to be a best-of-3 series, all in the division winner's home park. I don't know how realistic that is, but I also don't think they can schedule a 5-game series without regularly extending the World Series into November.

I run with 4 eight team divisions. The top 2 teams in each make the playoffs. The teams have to play their way out of the division to the League Championships. I cannot recall an 'undeserving team' making it in since I made this switch.

My first assumption is that MLB wouldn't reduce the number of playoff teams. I had to have 10 or more teams make the playoffs. Given any breakdown of 32 total teams, that was going to end up being 12 or 16 playoff teams. I went with 12, since I'm a "small playoffs" kind of guy.

With 4 8-team divisions, there were a few ways to do it. I went with division champions and runners-up, plus 2 WC per league. Champions would get a bye, the other teams would play it out, and then we'd have a normal Division Series, LCS, and World Series.

I liked this format personally, but as I said before, I think MLB would be more likely to break it down into 8 4-team divisions (NFL style) in order to keep more teams "competitive" longer. Here it's an NFL style playoff - 4 division champions per league plus 2 WC. The two best division winners get the bye.

I don't like that format as much, but it just seems more realistic.

I also did that for my first round - I figured that the home field advantage helped offset the uncertainty of the short series and gave an advantage to finishing in a higher wild-card spot. But I kept the four divisions of 8 each, hoping for stronger clubs top-to-bottom in the playoffs. The difficulty I then get is when one division is stacked - the Division Winner gets a bye, but then plays a tough team while the winner of the other wild-card series winds up drawing the weak-sister Division champ. (I call it the Southeast Division Dilemma.)

This past season, for example, one division sent four teams: 107, 105, 97, and 96 wins. The 107-win team has to deal with the 96-win team while the 105-win team gets the 91-win team from the opposing division.

Columbus Nordiques? The MLB answer to the Flint Tropics.
