Proposal for managers

If you are playing as GM, it's my opinion you maybe shouldn't be able to alter strategy at all. This could be an option perhaps, but it's my opinion that hiring managers would become that much more important. Also, rather than having sliders, it would be nice to see the tendencies in text form instead. Just my 2 cents.

I think the current system has it about right, where the GM's potential input varies depending on the reputation of the manager. It doesn't seem realistic to me that a GM would never have strategic input.

I understand, but after now playing with the new feature for awhile now, it just seems a little "gamey" to me. I think it would be more challenging if you had a written report of how managers act and perform in paragraph form, and perhaps you could the have "dialogue" with manager regarding strategy. I am thinking a "drop down menu" with different conversation starters. These conversations could included a multitude of different subjects from strategy, to who you want starting, or to. Where you'd like to see a player batting in the lineup. You could also bring in a morale system for managers, and depending on the managers personality, he may be open to suggestion or not

This is already modeled in OOTP with the new system. Some mangers won't let you do anything, some allow a little, some a lot; and that is discernible from looking at and reading his profile and managerial style. The blurbs give you enough info, but not too much.

I would love to have conversation options like the Mass Effect games but I doubt OOTP has the same resources to devote to this small function like Bioware does.

the way it is (for the most part) and was allows you to play this way. nothing stops you from clicking "ask manager for strategy" and not touching anything, afterward.

however, changing the rule would restrict others with differing opinions for no reason.

one way allows everyone to be happy and play it their way, one way does not.

I rather be able to suggest things to the manager or GM (like a another basketball sim and FM) rather that completely taking over because the person employed is a softy. GM/Manager should only have that power.
