Historical League Settings

Long-time OOTPer, first time post and rookie historical player. What do you folks recommend for minor-league/roster size settings? I am used to playing with lots of minor leagues, but is it historically inaccurate to do so? Do you guys use complete minor league rosters? How does the ghost player thing work? How does the reserve roster stuff work (can players still change in ratings over time on the reserve roster)? Do you use historically accurate roster sizes (in 1903, 15 man)? I want my league to develop at MLB did over time...can I change this size once 1910 hits to 25 man? The 40 man roster and thus rule 5 draft seems stupid historically...how do you deal with that?

Sorry for all the questions, but the answers to these questions all interconnect.

Back in the day minor leagues had a pyramid shape rather than the tube shape they now have. This was due to all the Independent leagues. In fact until the mid 1920's nearly all minor league teams were independent. OOTP reflects the tube sock on the Sphinxs leg rather than the pyramid next door.

Ghost players are used as OOTP does not have enough historical players to fill a full set of minor leagues.

I suggest not using anything beyond AAA any time soon in any historical league. i hate the use of ghost players as some good players will not get a good amount of stats and can wallow in the minors for years.
I try to keep my roster limits set to historical and you must chnage these by hand.
