Position players on pitching staff?!

I just got thru doing a fantasy draft of years 1883-1885 and have found that 1B Cap Anson, SS Charlie Bastian, LF Blondie Purcell and RF Mike Dorgan are all on my pitching staff! I have only 4 starters and 3 relievers (as I mismanaged the draft), is it putting these players there to make up for the pitchers I didnt draft??

Many players also pitched. It's great to use these guys in blow outs.

Purcell pitched 79 games and almost 600 innings in his career and Dorgan had 14 starts one season, so those guys probably belong there. The other two only pitched a couple games, so they shouldn't really be considered two-way players.

For those years you definitely don't need a four-man rotation. One or two starters is fine and usually one guy would pitch at least half of the games. (although a 162-game schedule would not be realistic).
