Incorrect. The progress and the timetable may be frustrating, but rest assured there's no shortage of effort on the part of the dev team.

It sounded like it might be May and the month is only half over so there is still hope. I have the other game keeping me well happy until then. When the patch comes out it comes out and I re-evaluate my position then.

The release date of the End of May for FHM2 was a tentative estimation by the dev team.

With regards to the patch its Information Underdrive

They had mentioned at one point that they will get the patch out before the fhm 2 release.

They are still working away and hopefully we will hear some good news soon

We all signed the Non disclosure form so that is why everybody is tight lipped! Things behind the scenes are taking shape nicely. The last month or so it was abit quiet, yes even the ones who test the patches extra go through some weeks of just no updates at all, you see the same 'any updates?' in the hidden forum too. However it usually means Seb and co. are hard at work making FHM what it should be.

I'll push the boundaries a little and say that I've been testing the game today and it feels a lot better then it did.

Any news on the release date ect has to come from the Devs as we have no idea.

I'll echo Gareth's sentiments. I've been around the block a few times with testing hockey sims over the past 20 years, and I have extremely high standards.

I'm also under an NDA, but I'll say this: Current testing of FHM2 has me very excited. No piece of software will be perfect, or be without its bugs and quirks. But I anticipate that, sooner rather than much later, this game will overtake EHM for realism, immersion, slick appearance, and ease of use. At the very least it will match EHM in overall desirability, while offering many features not found in EHM.

Just my honest opinion, and your individual mileage may vary once you all get the game in your hands.

What you are describing is what hockey fans have been wanting for a long time. If FHM2 delivers on the immersion, realism and ease of use then fans will accept a few bugs here and there. OOTP is a company especially with OOTP Baseball that has a proven track record for delivering fixes and patches to alleviate said bugs and quirks.

The frustration comes from the amount of time we have been been waiting for the last patch for FHM14 and the lack of any real updates from the dev team in the days approaching their tentative 'end of May' release date. If FHM2 was as brilliant as it sounds then I would be shouting it from the rooftops leading up to its release. I would be talking about the new features, the fab new UI and ease of use, putting out more teaser screens. You can do all that without having to tie yourself to a release date and it would keep people informed and up to date.

I understand your position completely. I won't speak for the dev team on any of that. I just wanted to provide my opinion.

I would like to add to this...

I was super excited when EHM Early Access came out. But I only have logged 8 hours on it. I loaded it up on Thursday because the British Leagues were added (what I was waiting for) but I just can't sit and get into it anymore. I feel as if it was released because they know OOTP are releasing FHM 2? Who knows. Although I'm sure once it's fully updated and becomes EHM full version we will have two great hockey sims to waste our time on.

I'd love both games to do well, as they will both offer us a different experience but after the newest behind the scenes update I can see how good FHM can become if all goes well for the game and devs!

I know the feeling, as that's how it's been with FHM for me (and I'm not sure I'll be able to get into it either given it's been 20 months and counting)

I don't think so at all, as #1 Riz has always maintained EHM would come back in some way and #2 the initial FHM2 Road to release was started last October...do you really think SI knew that they launch of FHM2 was going to be so delayed, making a late March release of EHM:EA somehow "good timing"?

Wow! that's certainly an optimistic view...but maybe it'd be better to let FHM try and be it's own game rather than promoting it as (soon to be) "better than EHM"
Given the initial release/current lengthy delay maybe raising expectations to the highest levels isn't best

Absolutely, Nino, I could have said that better.

I have no personal agenda here, no "fanboy" perspective toward FHM. In fact, I've been a staunch supporter of Eastside Hockey since its very first beta freeware versions 15 years ago. The default roster database when you download EHM2g was designed by me. Riz and I communicated frequently back in those days. I've loved and supported EHM from the start, and still am rooting for it to succeed.

What I should have said was that, hopefully in the near future, we'll have two strong sims to occupy our time, each with its own individual strengths and unique features. Competition is good, and, in the long run, the community shouldn't have to take sides.

I too remember EHM from its Freeware origins and bought both EHM 05 & 07. To be in a position where fans could have two strong titles to choose from would have been unimaginable 8 years ago when EHM ceased being developed and I hope that is what happens. EHM will always be a great game but I think FHM might just surpass it in terms of depth, options and realism.

I was one of the people shouting at Riz every other week to hurry up and quit SI and remake EHM I'm sure it must just be good timing!
